Block of the Month Report - Scrap Dance & Cozy Afternoon

Always a struggle to avoid new Block of the Month projects, I caved when I found Scrap Dance last month. It is a Mystery Quilt along hosted by From My Carolina Home. I caught up over the weekend with Step Three,
Eight more strip sets...
Hopefully the background pattern does not get lost in medium blue! (Compare to other backgrounds at the Flickr Group!)

Coming in June, I am planning to participate with Jacquelynne Steve's upcoming Block of the Month, Cozy Afternoon. The pattern is adorable and I do love a lattice set on point!

The Hillside Houses Quilt Along is super tempting as well! I have downloaded a couple houses in case I am able to catch up this summer.
Really want to do this one, however I really shouldn't!

I still  have a couple WIPs from last year that are tucked away, waiting for settings:

My 2014 Aurifil blocks are varying sizes - I plan to 'improv' set it..

Sew Kitschy - I have not finished the last block. So many pieces! I am actually thinking I may use the blocks for small finishes. Although I love the results, paper piecing is not my favorite method!

I told myself to finish these before starting new ones. What's a girl to do?

January Goal ALYoF

I was not able to achieve my goal in December, to complete the little scrap quilt I made while quilting along with Lori, from Humble Quilts. This was a double-disappointment for me since I therefore missed out on the finishing party she held. Of course, I still enjoyed seeing all the different versions of the Cascadia Quilt-a-Long!
My version is very scrappy with not many repeats - I love all the little prints :-)
It was not my intention to heavily quilt it, it just sorta happened!
I still regret my background color, but somehow the extra quilting has helped.
Of course, it also made the edges a bit wonky...
Which made blocking necessary...

Here it is today drying on my (pink!) kitchen counter.

Finishing this little Pup is my official goal this month! It has been three months since I met a goal with ALYoF, and I reckon binding this is a very DOABLE one!

The bigger challenge for me right now is organizing my UFO's and creating a plan to finish a bunch of them this year. Pulling out old projects and sharing them online will feel a bit like airing undies I am afraid - it seems they are hiding in every crevice of the house.

2015 Goal Number One.
Set.

Hope your goals are off to a great start this year!

BOM's Away - Stashbuster QAL

Just a quick note of progress on the blocks I began last week when I found the Stash Buster's QAL at Linda's Quiltmania. It is a relaxed QAL - we are not required to make blocks each week and we can use the blocks in whatever manner we are inspired ..
Blocks from week one:

Blocks from week two:
I am in love with these, but have not yet figured out the setting...

Baby quilts are my favorite! I am actually working today on a third baby quilt as well, from blocks inspired by week one. I should be able to reveal the finished quilt this week!

I just noticed the Hello Moon August Block is available from April Mae Designs How did that slip by me?!!

Vow to self, " I AM CUT OFF - NO MORE NEW FO'S IN 2013!"

Two new Barn Quilt Blocks, and a New QAL!

I am so excited about the barn blocks my husband and I have been working on! I finished painting two of the Churn Dash blocks, and will soon be adding a 'Barn Blocks' section on my Etsy shop as part of it's makeover. These are two of my faves so far:
24" Barn Block made of Rebar and Sheet Metal

I snapped a photo & added Ty as a shop member today....
Ty enjoys working in his slippers, as do I :-)
He is into modern furniture & metal wall art - http://tekilounge.blogspot.com/
The blog is new, so he would LOVE a comment if you make it over there!

Of course, I am still stitching as well! Yesterday I stumbled upon some purty blocks made with the new Stashbuster's QAL at Linda's Quiltmania. Never one to avoid a new distraction, I jumped right on the bandwagon and whipped up the first two blocks. Her tutorials were easy to follow, and I love the modern designs.
Block from Week One, (I made them a bit bigger @ 16")
These are not joined cuz I decided to add a few more & complete a baby quilt.

Block from Week Two; I am going to make three more - blue, yellow, and green - for a baby quilt.

Check out Linda's Flickr group to see what other quilter's are coming up with! If you follow my blog, you know that I often enjoy mixing vintage with modern, and this group seems to have a mixture that I will feel comfortable posting with in either style:-)

Hello Moon!

Quick Post to share yesterday's accomplishments!

I finally got to work on the April Mae Designs BOM "Hello Moon" - I have had my eyes on it for a couple weeks now, since  Barbara over at Cat Patches started hers. Just need to stitch these down and I will be caught up for the May block!

And I have been doing some hopping with The Quilting Gallery,

Monday was the first block tutorial, Mirror Mirror Star, by Marie Bostwick

The tutorial suggested blocks could be stitched up up for the Linus Project, so I whipped this up with one of my favorite red-orange colors. Then I followed the Linus link, and was drawn right into all the amazing quilts and volunteering going on. It wasn't exactly clear if these are being gathered or what, and I feel a bit lame just sending the lone block, so I will pick a baby quilt out of my finished stash and send them together.
